No. 1 ASU dominates No. 2 Cal; Anteaters, Cornhuskers jump into top 3

No. 1 Arizona State showed its muscle by sweeping No. 2 California, 11-7, 11-7 and 18-2 in its weekend series. (Cal slipped to No. 7 after being swept.) UC Irvine and Nebraska benefited from strong weekends to join No. 1 Arizona State in Boyd Nation’s Top 25 rankings. No. 2 Anteaters went 4-1 on the week, splitting with Kansas State in a mid-week non conference series and swept New Mexico in Albuquerque convincingly to move from No. 5 to No. 2. No. 3 Cornhuskers also went 4-1, sweeping Creighton in a mid-week series and then took two of three in Waco, Texas against Baylor.
