Scouting report: Clemson vs. Georgia

Clemson and Georgia played a two game mid-week non-conference series Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2. Tuesday’s game was played in Athens, GA and Wednesday’s was in Clemson, SC. Georgia rolled to a 11-3 victory on Tuesday backed by a strong outing from sophomore lefthander Alex McRee. McRee pitched four shutout, hitless innings, striking out seven and only walking two. McRee was backed from multi-hit performances by third baseman Ryan Peisel, first baseman Rich Poythress and catcher Joey Lewis. Shortstop Gordon Beckham also chipped in with an RBI and two runs scored. D.J. Mitchell struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief for Clemson in the loss.
