Scouting report: Georgia vs. Mississippi State

Misssissippi State hosted Georgia last weekend. The series moved to Sunday tied 1-1. Georgia starting pitcher Nathan Moreau gave up three runs in 2 1/3 innings, one of which on a two-out, two-run single by junior centerfielder Grant Hogue. Relievers Nick Montgomery, Dean Weaver and Alex McRee threw a combined 6 2/3 scoreless innings to keep Georgia in the game. Down 3-2 in the seventh, Georgia shortstop Gordon Beckham led off with a single, stole second base and was plated on catcher Bryce Massanari’s RBI single off Mississippi State reliever John Lalor. Beckham hit a homer, his 15th of the season, off Lalor in the 10th inning to give Georgia the lead for good. Senior Joshua Fields notched his sixth save of the season. Georgia won, 5-3 in 10 innings.

New player pages are up for Hogue and Lalor. New video has been added to Beckham and Fields‘ pages.
