Scouting report: Delaware vs. Maryland

Maryland and Delaware play a rare mid-week series on Tuesday and Wednesday, and game 1 was a low scoring affair punctuated by some clutch play.  Lefty Brett Tidball threw four scoreless innings and outfielders Gerry Spessard and Nick Jowers hit home runs en route to a Terrapins 5-1 victory.  A few Blue Hens looked good in the loss, however.  Alex Buchholz, one of the elite prospects in the CAA, went 1-3 with an RBI and a walk and was pitched around for most of the night.  Kyle Davis is a sleeper to follow in ’08 and Ryan Reed is a nice catch and throw backstop with a little pop.  Senior righty Dan Richardson showed a low 90s fastball in front of several scouts, but had poor command and gave up three runs in five innings.  His off-speed stuff was uninspiring.
