Honors:
- 2006 Louisville Slugger Freshman All American
Strengths:
Farrell is a polished college hitter. He seems to have righted himself after a sophomore season affected by injury. Through April 1, he is hitting .400/.500/.716 with five home runs, one more than he had in his freshman and sophomore seasons combined. Farrell is an average runner. His father is Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell.
Weaknesses:
Until this season, Farrell’s power numbers were merely OK. He’s on a tear now, but his freshman and sophomore seasons indicate that he doesn’t have enough power for corner infield. Farrell will be an average defender at best at either first or third base.
The Future:
Top five rounds.
