Honors:

  • 2008 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American Third-Team
  • 2008 Brooks Wallace Award Preseason Watch List
  • 2007 All-ACC Second-team
  • 2007 VaSID All-State First-team

Strengths:
Adams is an offensive second baseman in the mold of Jeff Kent. He sprays line drives gap to gap. He starts his swing with his front toe on the ground with his heel facing the pitcher. This allows him to keep his hands in and square the ball.

Weaknesses:
Defense is not Adams’ strength. He led the Cape Cod League with 14 errors in 2007 and already has four errors in 2008. He was drafted as a shortstop out of high school, but that position appears out of the question now. There’s a chance he could move to third base as a pro. He is a poor bunter.

The Future:
First three rounds.
