Honors:
- 2007 Cape Cod League MVP
- 2007 All-Valley first team
- 2007 MVC All-Tournament team
- 2007 Wichita All-Regional team
Strengths:
Gillaspie opened scouts’ eyes by winning the Cape Cod League MVP award but there are still questions about his game. He is a great contact hitter who puts up a high average and hits the ball to all fields. He’s a hard worker and he’s got good hands and an average arm at third base.
Weaknesses:
Scouts have questions about Gillaspie’s power and he’s only shown OK power numbers with aluminum bats at Wichita State. He regressed in his sophomore season and recorded more strikeouts than walks.
The Future:
Second round.
