Honors:
- 2008 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List
- 2007 Cape Cod League All-star
- 2007 OVC All-tournament
Strengths:
Friedrich, like Louisiana Tech’s Luke Burnett, is sparkling at a small Division I baseball program. That’s where the similarities with Burnett end. Unlike Burnett, Friedrich commands a four-pitch repertoire. His best pitch is a deadly 12-6 overhand curve and he mixes in a 88-92 mph fastball, a slurve and a slider. He held his own in the competitive Cape Cod League.
Weaknesses:
No matter how well he pitches, scouts will have to temper their interest. Friedrich pitches in the Ohio Valley Conference, the 20th strongest league in Division I baseball.
The Future:
Barring a disastrous 2008, Friedrich will be selected in the first 15 picks.
