Strengths:
Charlie Kruer is a complete hitter. He has an excellent approach at the plate, is patient and rarely overswings. He’s willing to walk, but can also put a charge into the ball. He has power to all fields as he showed when he hit third 2008 home run against William & Mary on March 5. He took a low and away fastball and deposited it over the left-center field fence.
Weaknesses:
All of Kruer’s value is in his bat. He’s got a weak arm and poor range in left field. He is a below-average runner. Kruer’s actions are a little stiff. He’s got a top hand swing that causes the ball to have top spin. He may struggle with the transition to wood bats.
The Future:
Kruer should be easy to sign if drafted. His bat merits a selection in the first fifteen rounds.
