Strengths:
Gutierrez was a starting pitcher before he underwent elbow reconstruction surgery in 2006. After missing all of 2007, he’s back as the ‘Canes closer. He features a low 90s plus sinker and a hard curve.
Weaknesses:
There is still plenty of risk with Gutierrez, especially concerning his health. His stock will rise if a team believes he can become a starter again.
The Future:
Depending on his health, Gutierrez merits a selection between the 20th and 30th rounds.
