Strengths:
Jacobsen has a pitcher’s body and the stuff to match. 6-foot-6 and wiry, Jacobsen sits in the low 90s with his fastball and also throws a plus slider and solid changeup. His peripheral stats are impressive, especially his strikeout and walk rates in 2007. He struck out 15 in six innings in the Cape Cod League in the summer of 2007.
Weaknesses:
Jacobsen has allowed more hits than one might expect given his stuff. As a sophomore, his batting average against was .283 and it was .290 in the Cape. He was inconsistent at Vandy in ‘07, getting temporarily bumped out of the weekend rotation by Coach Tim Corbin.
The Future:
Mid-to late first round pick.
